Magic and adventure - traditions and decorations. Experience Christmas in the French castles!

There is something magical about Christmas, the many traditions and beautiful decorations - and it feels even more as a fairytale when it takes place in a castle!

Many of the chateaux in the Loire Valley opens their gates in December and offers everything from hot chocolate in front of the fireplace, typical French Christmas traditions and 8 meter high Christmas trees worthy of a king.

Here are our 6 suggestions to magical Christmas experiences in the chateaux of the Loire Valley!

 

Château d'Amboise

From December 3rd 2016 to January 8th 2017

"Noël, Noël!" At the Château d'Amboise you can almost still hear the excited cries of the princes, when you walk around the beautifully decorated old castle, where you will experience the traditions of the Renaissance, the 18th and the 19th century.

 

Château de Chenonceau

From December 6th 2016 to January 3rd 2017

Chenonceau is the only French castle with its own flower workshop - in more than 15 years, the florists has bin working year round to decorate the castle in step with the change of seasons. In the month of Christmas, all the rooms and halls will be decorated in line with this years Christmas theme - and you will experience a nice fire in all fireplaces and an impressive 8 meter tall decorated Christmas tree in the main hall. Those particularly interested in flowers can get some great tips for beautiful decorations in the workshop.

 

Château de Langeais

From 26th to 29th of December 2016 and 1st to 4th January 2017

How does it feel walking around in a dress from the Middle Ages? At Langeais Castle, children and those young at heart (from 7 years) can get a particularly adventurous experience when the castle opens it's wardrobes to get out beautiful costumes from the 15th century forward and invites the children to try them.

 

Château de Meung-sur-Loire, Château Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire and Château La Bussiere

Weekends and/or school holidays from 22th of December 2016 to 4th of January 2017.

Experience the beautifully decorated halls and enchanting events that bring Christmas to life with traditions of the past.
