Anglet - Basque Coast Anglet fr

ANGLET in the Basque Country
The Basque country is a unique region which lives and breathes the sea, the mountains and the countryside, just a stone's throw from Spain. Anglet is part of this Basque country, whose population has kept its strong traditions, language (Euskara), and rich culture over the centuries and is delighted to share its admirable art de vivre. Gastronomy, song and dance rule, not forgetting the basque force festivals and other popular lively festivals.

ANGLET on the blue side
The coast of Anglet includes eleven sandy beaches covering 4.5 kilometres and with a foot path the entire length: "les Cavaliers", overshadowed by the Atlanthal seawater therapy-spa complex; "la Madrague" and "l’Océan", edged by the greens of the Chiberta golf course; "Marinella" and its greenery; "les sables d’Or", urban beach with its paved esplanade, its kiosk and its view point near to café patios and shops; the Chambre d’Amour beach and its legendary cave in the cliff…

SURF
With eleven surfing spots out of the 30 known spots on the Basque Coast, Anglet is recognized as a surfing destination in its own right throughout the world. Each one has something special: the long left of the “Petite Chambre d’Amour beach”, the sought-after beach-breaks of the "Sables d'or", the "l'Océan" which the talented "tuberiders" attempt to enter, and the lazy surf of "Marinella", a hot spot for surfing schools… The best boards from all four oceans meet up each year at Anglet for pro-international competitions.

ANGLET on the green side
The “Pignada”, Lazaret and Chiberta forests extending two kilometres inland from the coast and covering 250 hectares of protected pine forest (i.e. almost 10% of the surface area of the town).

THE “GOLF DE CHIBERTA”, 18-hole and 9-hole golf courses
This may be the most beautiful course in the region. The Chiberta Golf course is divided between the pine forest and the seaside true to the British links. On its bed of sand, frequently battered by the wind, Chiberta is open for play all year round, whatever the weather.

A HIVE OF ACTIVITY
A mild micro-climate, natural elements (forest, greenery, ocean) and much equipment (cycle lanes, walking paths, marina, airfield, sports rooms, left-hand walls, pool, ice rink) allow everyone, amateurs and professionals, to practice a wide range of sports… there's something for all: golf, surf, rugby, Basque pelote, sailing, fishing, ice hockey, adventure parks, roller skates, horse riding, etc.
