Marseille - the European capital of sport 2017 Marseille fr

Marseille is the European Capital of Sports 2017. This means that the city has dedicated a whole year to sport and the difference it can make in our lifes.

The year is divided into 4 stages:

  • Season 1 - Generation of the Champions: In the first trimester, the champions focus on single disciplines: Swimming, Athletics, Cycling.
  • Season 2 – Champions together: The role of sport in social life, between new disciplines and traditional sport.
  • Season 3 - Champions of Nature: Sea, Sun and Sport are the motto. In the third trimester, nature and water are the focus. Sports activities on the beach, in parks and in public places are on the agenda.
  • Season 4 - We all are champions: the end of the year is devoted to sporting excellence in all its forms. Volunteer work, sports and health are also the focus of the conference.

Program

The year of the European sport capital Marseille was officially opened on January 14th. The first major sporting event was the Red Bull Crashed Ice, a skating rink. Throughout the year more than 420 events are offered – Click here to read more.
